ABOUT ME

Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau is the Adjunct Professor for the Centre for Postgraduate Studies & Research and also member of Industry Expert Advisory Panel (IEAP) for Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC). He is also former Professor in Razak School of Engineering and Advanced Technology, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Prior to joining UTM, Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau was a certified Blue Ocean Strategy practitioner and formerly the Director of Applied Research Centre of Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre in UCSI University. He has successfully completed the Blue Ocean Strategy qualification process administered by the Blue Ocean Strategy–Initiative Centre guided directly by Prof. Kim Chan, the author of Blue Ocean Strategy.  Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau is also the founder of leading consulting firm in Malaysia named SQC Consulting Group since June 1995 and currently acting as a Technical Advisor.

Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau is a practitioner in the field of quality management system & business management.  He was IATCA registered Lead Assessor (IRCA, QSA & MRCA).  As a specialist in consultation & training industry, he has assisted numerous companies achieve business excellence by embracing the use of state-of-the-art technical & management improvement systems & principles.

By virtue of his qualification and experience in the field of quality management system and business management, Datuk Dr Dominic Lau was appointed by the Japan Register of Certificated Auditors (JRCA) to help the Japanese Auditors in Malaysia verify their competence in the Auditing System.  He was also a registered consultant of the Department of Standard Malaysia and is a registered chemist for his sought after skill and expertise in Business Performance Improvement, Total Customer Satisfaction, Total Quality Management, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC 17025, Process Reengineering, Change Management and Strategic Planning. He has written seven books in the areas of strategic management, entrepreneurship, and quality assurance as well as Blue Ocean Strategy.

Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau released his publication of “Blue Ocean Strategy” on 15 successful cases of the application of Blue Ocean Strategy in the Malaysian context and also published a book in regards to Blue Ocean Strategy in politics in 2012. Recent publication was his second book on “Blue Ocean Strategy” on the implementation of Blue Ocean Strategy tools and techniques. He was also awarded as Honouree for The Outstanding Young Malaysian Award in year 2002 for the category of Personal Development and Accomplishment and also conferred as Penang Top 10 Outstanding Chinese Youth Award in year 2004. In honour of his contribution to the Junior Chamber International has conferred him with JCI Senatorship 2006–Life membership title.

In recognition of his credentials, Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau is an appointed columnist in Malaysian’s leading dailies as SinChew Jit Poh, Kwong Wah Yit Poh, Oriental Daily and so on. Besides, he has also made his presence felt on TV in regards to management system programme and current issue forum. He is a sought after speaker and participates actively in various national and international conferences. He is also active in research publications and has written numerous papers in academic journals.

His passion and interest in knowledge development has earned him an Adjunct Professor in TAC UC as well as the lecturer and academic supervisor for Warwick University, UK Master Program students. Datuk Dr. Lau also has been appointed as an external examiner for Southern College for BBA program.

Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau has demonstrated much commitment, enthusiasm and passion in the political field and has been elected as the Gerakan National President since year 2018 to take the lead and helm the Party. He is actively involved in all political aspects and contexts as an independent party following the decision by Party Leadership for Gerakan to rescind from Barisan National alliance.
